Barbara “Gramie” Bottom of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away on July 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lexington, Ky in October 1955 to her loving parents, Juanita and Kenneth Fain. An Air Force “brat”, she traveled the world in her youth with stops in Tennessee, Texas, California, Japan, Louisiana, and Spain before settling back in Lexington for High School, where she met her future husband of 52 years, David Bottom. Together they built a lovely family with children Chris, Allyson, and Michael in Lexington until moving to Florida in 1996; living in Palm Harbor the last 29 years and creating her own accounting business.
She loved to cook, especially large family meals and trying out new recipes and watching for new ideas and gadgets on HGTV, Food Network, and QVC. She loved family time, keeping up with the adventures of her family and watching her grandchildren grow and discovering life’s joys and lessons. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, being full of love, always taking charge, and helping everyone learn about the “Barbara” way of doing things!
She is survived by her mother, Juanita Fain (Moody), sisters Paula Fain and Wanda Brown (Fain), brother Gene Fain, husband David, son Chris (wife Lisa Bottom (Nienaber)), along with their children Sarah and Ryan, daughter Allyson Bottom and her son Nathan, son Michael (wife Brittany Bottom (Barbara)), and their daughter Hannah, along with various nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as her close friend and business associate Dina Jones. She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Eugene Fain.
Adhering to her wishes, there will not be a public service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Marliere Hospice House of Pasco County as a way to thank them for their wonderful care and support for Mom and for us in her final days.
