Beverly Lee Hostinsky, 78, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 in New Port Richey, Florida.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Bev was best known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and her lifelong love of cooking.
Born on November 26, 1946, in Richmond to Ervin and Lillian Holloway, she spent most of her life there, raising her family and working as a caterer. On October 17, 1974 Bev married Big John, the love of her life, they shared thirty-three wonderful years with each other before John’s passing in 2007. Together they shared the joy of raising two sons and were later blessed with two granddaughters.
In 2018, Bev decided to become a “snowbird” splitting her time between her two sons homes and enjoying both the cooler summers of Virginia and the warm winters of Florida. While in Virginia, she always made it a priority to visit her favorite produce stands to acquire the freshest fruits and vegetables, her favorite being the famous Hanover Tomato. When in Florida she spent her days lounging by the pool, eating fresh seafood, and enjoying the abundant sunshine.
Bev was truly at home in the kitchen, always cooking up something delicious and reading her collection of well-loved cookbooks. Whether it was preparing a holiday feast or a family dinner, she found joy in feeding others and making them feel welcome.
She is survived by her children, John Louis Hostinsky III (Melicent); Joshua Lee Hostinsky; and her beloved granddaughters, Lillian and Mary Hostinsky. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Louis Hostinsky Jr.
Bev’s legacy of love, kindness, and incredible meals lives on in the hearts and kitchens of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
