Carol Lynne Phillips, 73, of Sorrento, Florida, passed away on August 4, 2026. Although she spent her final years living in Daytona Beach, Georgia, and Brooksville, Sorrento remained the community she called home for more than 30 years.

Born on November 29, 1952, in Orlando, Florida, Carol grew up in Orlando and attended Colonial High School. She spent many years living in Winter Park before settling in Sorrento, where she built lasting friendships and memories.

Throughout her life, Carol worked for Palmer Electric, STE Electric, and Florida Hospital Waterman. She was known for her strong work ethic, resilience, and independent spirit.

Carol lived life on her own terms and was truly a free bird at heart. She found her greatest happiness outdoors, whether she was boating, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, or spending a day at the ocean. She loved adventure, cherished her freedom, and never lost her appreciation for the simple joys of life. Those who knew her will remember her adventurous nature, her love of the water, and her determination to live life her own way.

She is survived by her life partner, Roy Valdez; her daughter, Danielle (Kirt) Brookson, and her son, Troy Valdez. She was a proud grandmother to Brayden Wilkins, Ava Valdez, and Luke Brookson. She is also survived by her siblings, Gary Phillips, Michael Phillips, Beverly Kerce, BettyAnn Dobrenz, and Richard Phillips. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Phillips, Jr.

Carol's adventurous spirit, independence, and love of nature will be remembered by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created throughout a life well lived will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
