David Allen Pesta, aged 58, passed away on May 27, 2026, in New Port Richey, FL. Born on July 19, 1967, David led a fulfilling life marked by his dedication to his family and his passion for the outdoors, music and Spongebob.
David spent his professional life in construction before retiring and later serving as a Universal Studio Ambassador. In this role, he relished the opportunity to meet and interact with people from all walks of life, embodying the spirit of hospitality and friendliness.
An avid outdoorsman, David's love for adventure was evident through his hobbies which included hunting, fishing, camping, boating, swimming, and exploring off-road sites. His enthusiasm for the natural world was contagious, inspiring those around him to appreciate the great outdoors.
David also had a passion for music, all kinds that included Country, Blues, Rock n Roll, Folk, Hip Hop and various Pop. He was often playing his bass guitar or whipping out a tune on his harmonicas. Even Lola, his furry faced friend would join in and sing or howl along. He also enjoyed singing to his favorite songs mostly with Sherry.
David's super passion and obsession was his favorite TV character, Spongebob Squarepants. Most of us called him Spongebob Dave. If you have never been to his humble abode, be prepared to live in a pineapple under the sea, and be yellow and porous and absorbent like he, so nautical nonsense is something ye wish, Then be like David and Flop like a Fish.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Kay, the love of his life, his best friend and soulmate, together since 1989 and married for 31 years.
Daughters, Crystal Suzanne and Stephanie Nicole (Sean, Husband); Grandchildren, Gabriel Anthony, Matthew Christian, and Malia Kay; Siblings, John, Richard, Kristi, and Misty; Stepfather, Thomas; Stepmother, Maryanne; and Stepbrothers, Bradley and Ricky.
