Dennis Rostis, 73, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1952, in Homer City, Pennsylvania, and spent much of his life connected to the place he always called home. He loved Homer City and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dennis had a wicked sense of humor and a love for the simple pleasures that made life enjoyable. He spent many years camping, taking endless rides in his golf cart. His favorite home away from home was the casino (anyone he could get to), traveling with friends and family from Maryland to Las Vegas. Dennis was rarely without a Pepsi in hand and a cigarette close by.
He was a master woodworker and once won a local radio station’s Christmas decorating contest. Growing up, Dennis loved music and played the drums, performing in a local band and remaining close friends with his bandmates until the end of his life. He was also fondly remembered for always wearing his Murphs as a kid, a small detail his family still smiles about today. He later enjoyed traveling in search of antiques to restore and sell, and grew especially fond of watching Antiques Roadshow.
Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole; his mother, Betty; and his father, Paul. He is survived by his daughters Shanna Rostis and Rachelle Babcock (husband Justin Babcock); his grandson, Alex; his granddaughters Natalia, Symone, Brianna, and Scarlett; his sister, Marilyn Walker; his brother Michael Rostis (wife Marcia Rostis); and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in July at the Scatter Garden at Oakland Cemetery in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Additional details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Dennis will be remembered for his humor, creativity, and the many memories he shared with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
