Ella A. Van Tassel

It is with great sadness that my cousin and best friend Ella Van Tassel passed away on September 1, 2025, in Bayonet Point, Florida. 

She was born in Ramapo N.Y. and grew up in Tallman, N.Y. She graduated from Suffern High School. She was a 9-1-1 dispatcher; she was also an Emergency Medical Technician.

Ella moved to Florida and volunteered at Safety Town with Pasco County Sheriff’s Department and loved it. She also completed the training to become a Pharmacy Technician. 

She was a member of Hope Lutheran in Hudson, FL where her faith was strong and she served as a Stephen Minister for many years, she also received training in the Kairos Ministry (bringing Christian based ministry into the women’s prison).

Ella also loved to cook and she was very good at it! She would make enough food to bring to her friends and neighbors that lived in her senior citizen building. She was a very kind and generous person, always thinking of others. 

Ella is predeceased by her parents, Eleanor & Jim Van Tassel and sister-in-law, Lisa Van Tassel. 

Ella is survived by cousin, Mae (Steve), 4 siblings: Eleanor (Dan) NY. Linda (Tim) Washington State. Jim, John (Peggy) NY. Ella also had many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much.

Ella leaves her beloved four-legged companion, Lucky, who she loved with all her heart. She would always say that he rescued her just like she rescued him! Lucky, Steve and Mae were with Ella when she went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved very much.
