Glen Karl VanDyke, a cherished father, partner, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away October 7th in Hudson, Florida, leaving a legacy of love and laughter. Born in Independence, Missouri, to Patricia (Pat) and Robert (Bob) VanDyke, Glen was the youngest of six siblings: Lynette, Bruce, Dale, Paul, and Becky.
Raised on the family farm, Glen developed a strong work ethic and served proudly in the United States Army. As an orthotic technician, he blended artistic talent with technical skill, crafting devices with precision and care to enhance lives, a role he took great pride in.
Glen frequently shared cherished sunsets at Hudson Beach with his partner, Tracy, reflecting on loved ones. Father to Michael, Valeri, Justine, and Matt, and a loving papa to ten grandchildren, he brought joy with his cheesy puns, famously claiming they had a “Pizza his Heart.” His passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the Kansas City Chiefs fostered deep friendships that enriched his life and the lives of all who had the privilege to call him a friend.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Pat and Bob, Glen is survived by his partner, Tracy; his children, Michael, Valeri, Justine, and Matt; his ten grandchildren; and his siblings, Lynette, Bruce, Dale, Paul, and Becky.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be held at Strickland Memorial Park at Hudson Beach, Florida on November 1st at 5PM and at The Tool Shed in Independence, Missouri on November 15th from 12-4pm.
Glen’s warmth, humor, and artistry will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and with his signature grin, he’d say, “See you on the other side.”
