"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of James Arthur Throckmartin, who departed peacefully at his home in Wesley Chapel, Florida, in October 3, 2025, at the age of 87. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on November 20, 1937, in West Terre Haute, Indiana, James lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and generosity. He was admired for his sharp intellect, his devotion to his family, and his remarkable ability to build and fix nearly anything. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, James was also a private pilot and a passionate motorsports enthusiast.
His quick wit and warm heart brought joy to everyone around him. He led by example, instilling in his children the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. Always ready with a helping hand or a lighthearted joke, James made everyone feel welcome and loved.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Randi Throckmartin, and his loving children: Dean Throckmartin, Dianne Hyde, Darin Throckmartin, and Cheryl Lehrer. He was a proud grandfather to Dean Throckmartin Jr., Victoria Throckmartin, Savannah Hyde, Bryce Lehrer, and Paige Lehrer, and a cherished great-grandfather to Dakari and Robin. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Deanna Sutton, Sharon Porter, and Harold Throckmartin.
James’ legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held by the family to honor and celebrate James."
