Obituary

James Webster "Jim" Gronosky, aged 91, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, in New Port Richey, Florida. Born on March 8, 1935, in Herkimer, New York, Jim lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of many.

Jim spent his early years in Little Falls, New York, and later resided in the Syracuse area for many years. A man of diverse talents and interests, he was known for his love of music, woodworking, photography, gardening, and good food. He had an infectious sense of humor and a quick, robust laugh that could brighten any room. Always ready to share a story or enjoy a card game, Jim had a kind and welcoming nature that made everyone feel like a friend.

A dedicated lifelong learner and teacher at heart, Jim’s life was marked by service and exploration. His military career was both remarkable and varied; he served honorably in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Reserves. On June 22nd, 2026—just one day before his passing—Jim was honored with a pinning ceremony recognizing his distinguished service to his country. He taught vocational education for many years in upstate New York.

Faith played an important role in Jim's life. He was a long-time member of Centenary Methodist Church in New Bern, North Carolina. There he contributed to the community as a member of the handbell choir—a reflection of his appreciation for music.

Jim’s adventurous spirit extended beyond his military service; he traveled extensively during his life. Whether visiting his children, exploring new places or cultivating his hobbies at home, he embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Jim is survived by his wife Jan, children Kathleen, Jamie, Susan Greene, Beth Fallin and son-in-law Mark, Jennifer, Karen Hayungs, Andrew and daughter-in-law Vesna, as well as grandchildren Alex, Mark, Zachary, Wyatt, Jonathan, Kelly, and Kyle. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy. Jim was predeceased by his son Scott Greene.

Those who knew Jim will remember him as someone who never met a stranger—a man whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. His memory will be cherished by family and friends alike.

May Jim’s legacy inspire those who loved him to live with the same joy for life that he so effortlessly embodied.
