Obituary

Phyllis Anna Faulkner, a woman of deep faith, compassion, and quiet strength, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on May 20, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on February 9, 1933, to Paul F. Ream and Carol Shoultz Ream, Phyllis was known for her quick wit, sharp mind, and generous spirit. While her early life was marked by the tragic deaths of her father and brother, she was blessed to be adopted and raised by Dr. Jerome Van Horne Pace. She lived a life of devoted faith and service, first supporting her community as the wife of a Presbyterian minister while raising three boys—Ernst (Jerry), Eric, and Mark—and later as an active volunteer and dedicated parishioner of the Episcopal Church.

Phyllis lived her faith through deliberate action. Throughout her life, she faithfully served her communities as a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She also devoted countless hours to hospice care, sitting bedside with strangers so no one would face their final moments alone. Through her work with ToughLove, she offered encouragement, wisdom, and understanding to parents navigating difficult family challenges. Her gentle spirit, listening ear, and compassionate heart brought profound comfort to those who were struggling.

Later in life, Phyllis found renewed companionship, joy, and love with Fred Faulkner, Jr., whom she affectionately referred to as her soulmate. Deeply protective of each other, they shared a chapter filled with tenderness and devotion. Through this union, Phyllis also gained the blessing of stepchildren whom she greatly admired and loved.

More than anything, Phyllis cherished her family. She leaves behind her son, Jerry; six grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her unwavering love, kindness, and prayers. Phyllis now rests in eternal peace with her Savior, reunited with those who went before her, including her parents; her adoptive father, Dr. Jerome Van Horne Pace; her brother, Donald Ream; her former husband, Ernst H. Michelis; her sons, Eric and Mark; her great-grandsons, Ronnie, Aaron, Cooper, and Matthew; and her beloved husband, Fred Faulkner, Jr.

Dedicated to preserving the history of both her family and her community, her legacy of faith, service, and love will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1700 Keystone Rd, Tarpon Springs, FL 34688.
