In Loving Memory of Yvonne McLachlan

Yvonne McLachlan was born in the Parish of St. Andrew, Kingston, Jamaica, to Oswald Lord, who worked for Jamaica's Water Commission, and Etha Lord, a gifted seamstress. She was the fifth of seven children and was raised in a loving family that instilled in her the values of faith, hard work, and service to others.

Yvonne attended Tutorial School in Jamaica, where she studied bookkeeping. In April 1962, she married the love of her life, Dudley McLachlan, an electrician. Shortly after their marriage, Dudley immigrated to the United States, and in 1963, Yvonne joined him. Together they established their home in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

After settling in the United States, Yvonne began a career with the Bank of Boston, where she served as a dedicated employee until her retirement in 1990.

Yvonne was a woman of unwavering faith, remarkable kindness, and quiet strength. She was an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together, and she found great joy in caring for others through her hospitality and generosity.

A devoted Christian, Yvonne faithfully served at All Saints Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn, for more than 30 years. Her love for God was reflected in her many years of dedicated service as Senior Warden of the Vestry, a member of the Altar Guild, the Meet and Greet Committee, and the church choir. Her faithful service, humble spirit, and love for God's people left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted daughter, Colette; her beloved grandchildren, Abenna, Gamal, Israel, and Simone; her cherished great-grandchildren, Zikorah Gittens and Reina Gittens; her dear sisters, Delores, Joy, Barbara, and Sheryl; her beloved niece, Sonia Bennett; her beloved nephew, Junior Lord; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, cherished friends, and her church family.

Yvonne's legacy of faith, compassion, service, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the assurance that she now rests peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

"Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23
